TimeMachine before its time

So I wrecked my beloved Mac once again – luckily enough only in terms of Software… It all started with a buggy Safari (WebKit) after updating to 10.4.10 and it only got worse and worse. Re-applying the update destroyed my system installation. Re-installing the system destroyed the user/network settings due to space reasons. Re-importing my settings and files after install (and update of SafariPlus, which was the reson for Safari crashes) removed them from the FileVault but did not put them into my home folder. Unfortunately this affected pretty much except of my LIbrary and Pictures, which I – due to size reasons – moved last. So all my data was gone. Well, luckily enough I started using Mozy to have free encrypted online backups. Unfortunately, I did not store everything there and also did the backup first seem to not be accessible. But now, finally, I can access it and download my data files. Luckily enough I could also still restore many files from the disk image with Data Rescue II, but the file structure is gone, which would leave me with tons of work (and just a patchwork as result). — read more ›

Responsibility

Another great post by Seth Godin. The only thing I would like to add is that it is not only true for marketeers. Anybody working has some responsibility to carry and if you cannot put your name under what you produced, you should not produce it. — read more ›
